SME IT support guides
Straightforward answers to the questions UK SMEs ask before choosing IT support: what managed IT should cost and include, how remote support works, how to keep control of your own accounts, and what Cyber Essentials actually asks of you.
Quick answers
The short version of the questions we get asked most. Each links to a fuller guide below.
What should managed IT support cost?
A useful price should make the monthly scope clear: devices covered, support included, onboarding, reporting, exclusions, and where add-ons begin. Start with the managed IT pricing guide if you are comparing quotes.
What does remote IT support actually cover?
Remote support is best for accounts, devices, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, access changes, troubleshooting, patch visibility, and routine user support. Hardware repair, cabling, office moves, and hands-on site work usually sit outside the core service.
Is Kindura remote-only?
Yes. Our packages are delivered remotely. Onsite visits, cabling, office fit-outs, hardware repair, courier handling, and in-person Cyber Essentials Plus assessment sit outside the core service unless separately agreed.
How do we keep control of admin accounts and business data?
Keep ownership of core admin accounts, require MFA, document access, avoid shared credentials, and make sure any provider can hand over cleanly. The MSP selection guide covers what to check before you sign.
Can Kindura guarantee Cyber Essentials certification?
No. We can help you prepare the evidence remotely, but certification fees, the formal assessment, Cyber Essentials Plus, and the pass result itself are separate unless a proposal says otherwise.
What should we fix first if our IT feels messy?
Start with visibility: who has access, which devices are in use, whether MFA is enforced, what is patched, and what happens when someone joins or leaves. The monthly IT operations checklist is the best first pass.
